  • "Pretty mainstream"?

I would hardly call "Strange Fruit" pretty mainstream, unless I didn't know what it was about. This is a lovely collection. I'm so glad it includes "Yesterdays," one of the 20th century's most masterfully composed songs.

Thank you Billy Crystal for sharing your favorites. Now this is the favorite. My wife and myself fell in love with this incredible music that has beauty, grace and heart. Jazz touches your soul and you touched mine Billy Holiday. We are fans for life.
  • Billy Crystal? God, no.

I can't argue with some of the selections here, but I'm convinced Billy Crystal, washed-up actor, does not REMEMBER Billie Holiday. There are many other, much better songs from a 20+ year career that he could have chosen over the ones here. I have the feeling that he was given a list of songs to choose from and picked these, which are, for the most part, pretty mainstream and not representative of the work which made her great.

On my thirteenth birthday I recieved the movie 'the notebook' and in the scene where Noah and Allie are dancing in the middle of the street they played 'i'll be seeing you' and I absolutely fell in love with her voice, ever since then, I've listened to this cd none-stop
